Logistics centre construction underway

DB CARGO has begun construction of a new £6 million logistics centre in Wolverhampton. The centre will increase the site’s capabilities to handle and store steel coil from 1,380 to 3,325 steel coils, and is due to open in summer 2018.

DBC moves steel coils from the Port of Boston in conjunction with steel and mining company ArcelorMittal, with the service likely to operate weekly initially but increasing to three or four trains per week when the new logisitics centre opens. The coils are distributed to firms across the West Midlands for the manufacture of products such as white goods and cars.
