A significant number of entries to this year’s awards were innovations responding to the Covid-19 crisis, so the judges decided to create a special category recognising some of these. This category is sponsored by Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe, and the shortlist comprises:
- PowerApps – a suite of apps from Govia Thameslink Railway to support the operator’s response to the pandemic
- Covid-19 Visors – Network Rail worked with Macpac Ltd to design, develop and deliver 40,000 hardhat visors in just 16 days
- Thermal Image Cameras – Thales worked with Network Rail to deploy sensors which automatically temperature test staff arriving at NR’s offices and control facilities
