Sustainable rail blueprint launched

The Rail Safety and Standards Board has launched the Sustainable Rail Blueprint. The blueprint aims to set out the rail industry’s consensus of how it can deliver across environmental and social issues, helping informing debate and decisions on options, affordability and practicality.

Development of the blueprint has been a cross-industry effort but has been led by RSSB, and its publication has been endorsed by the Government and the Department for Transport, which identified the need for a cross-industry strategy in 2020 and funded the development of the blueprint. The blueprint is also a key input to the Long-Term Strategy for Rail being developed by the Great British Railways Transition Team.
