A digest of the main changes on Network Rail, London Underground and Northern Ireland Railways infrastructure during July 2017; compiled by Martyn Brailsford of the Branch Line Society (www.branchline.org.uk).

Significant work in July included work on the Ordsall Chord project, the commissioning of London Waterloo platforms 20 to 24 (former International station), the start of the Oxford Corridor Capacity Improvement Programme and the commissioning of access lines to two new train depots in the north, at Blackburn and Widnes (Ditton).

ANGLIA

Ilford Depot (2:5A)

With thanks to a Greater Anglia driver I can give a further update on the layout changes at Ilford depot due to Crossrail works. Shop ‘A’ road 8 does actually continue into Crossrail stabling siding ‘H’. Shop ‘A’ road 7 terminates in a buffer stop just outside the building, whilst road 6 continues to a buffer stop just beyond the building apron. Roads 3 to 5 continue into stabling sidings B to D as previously explained. A set of three bogie turntables connect roads 4, 5 and 6 together on the country end building apron; a similar set of bogie turntables, on the same roads, exist inside Shop ‘A’ at the country end.
