Tunbridge Wells-Hastings blockade in October

A Southeastern train passes Churchsettle, where work will take place during the October half-term.

The Tunbridge Wells-Hastings line is to close from 23 October to 29 October as Network Rail seeks to strengthen landslip-prone cuttings near Wadhurst Tunnel.

Soil nails will be driven into the steeply-inclined cutting faces at both ends of the tunnel to hold them fast and prevent further slippages. NR says undertaking the blockade will ensure the work can be completed more quickly than with weekend or overnight engineering possessions.

During the blockade, additional works will take place at Strawberry Hill, Churchsettle, Telham Road cutting and Nevill Golf Club embankment. Maintenance work at stations will also be undertaken during the closure.
