Sporting and cultural eventsd boost numbers

ScotRail says more than 3.5 million people used its services in the first two weeks of August, with the 2023 UCI World Cycling Championships helping to deliver what the operator says is its busiest period since the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition to the cycling event, the Scottish football season has resumed, and the Edinburgh Festivals are under way, attracting more passengers.

ScotRail has also launched a ‘Go by train’ campaign to encourage more rail use for day trips, supported by an ‘inspiration hub’ on its website which includes ideas, forthcoming events, discounts and offers.
