Anglia revisited

The return of a legal group of six to Anglia was scheduled to be after the end of Covid restrictions, which didn’t happen as planned so mask wearing remained. Jurassic Park refers to the mass extinction of rolling stock as a result of the last franchise bid, which saw replacement of rolling stock on a huge scale. The idea that new trains would be significantly better than the old ones was flying in the face of recent experience, so we had to make Anglia the priority for our return. Spoiler alert – we were wrong.

No room at the Turbo

The original plan was to go CrossCountry to Nottingham to pick up the Liverpool – Norwich train, but CrossCountry was still operating compulsory reservations and according to the company there were no seats available. Experience indicates otherwise, but we like to keep to the rules so off we go to London on the 08.32 Meridian.

It is interesting to see the ‘360s’ now in EMR colours, and loadings are definitely increasing on main line services. Conversation is regularly interrupted by the public address lectures, including face mask protocol, since the original messages weren’t long enough. Just afte…
