The return of a legal group of six to Anglia was scheduled to be after the end of Covid restrictions, which didn’t happen as planned so mask wearing remained. Jurassic Park refers to the mass extinction of rolling stock as a result of the last franchise bid, which saw replacement of rolling stock on a huge scale. The idea that new trains would be significantly better than the old ones was flying in the face of recent experience, so we had to make Anglia the priority for our return. Spoiler alert – we were wrong.

The original plan was to go CrossCountry to Nottingham to pick up the Liverpool – Norwich train, but CrossCountry was still operating compulsory reservations and according to the company there were no seats available.
