Construction has also begun on pioneer builds of Class 730s EMUs for West Midlands Trains. Two types will be built – a three-car as will be used on the Cross City line in Birmingham (see photo overleaf) and a five-car as will be deployed on London Northwestern branded services.
Mr Byrne said type testing on these is planned to begin this spring, to be followed by a series build, with the aim of starting deliveries in early 2021.
At present Bombardier has six Aventra production lines:
◻ one finishing off the final vehicles for Crossrail (Class 345) and London Overground;
◻ two for Greater Anglia;
◻ two for SWR; and
◻ one for WMT.
