SIEMENS’ NEW DEPOT IN SCOTLAND
SIEMENS RAIL Automation has opened a new depot at Cambuslang, on the outskirts of Glasgow.
The company says the decision to relocate its site teams to a purpose-built facility is due to ‘a comprehensive programme of rail infrastructure works planned across [Scotland] over the next decade’.
Siemens has delivered a range of works for Network Rail in Scotland, including the Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central renewal schemes and the Airdrie to Bathgate and Borders Railway enhancement programmes. Current projects include the Highlands and Edinburgh to Glasgow enhancement projects and the Motherwell North and Polmadie and Rutherglen renewals programmes.
Siemens Rail Automation Operations Director, East, Richard Cooper, said: ‘The new Cambuslang depot is a truly world-class facility, which gives us the scope and capability to deliver each of these programmes safely and efficiently to the highest quality standards’.

A NEXT-GENERATION energy metering system has been installed on a South West Trains Class 456 vehicle by UK company Onyxrail and Italian firm Ciesse SpA.
