DLR trains delayed

Delayed introduction: TfL says its B23 stock trains will now enter service from the summer. Philip Sherratt

Introduction of the Docklands Light Railway’s new CAF B23 stock trains is being delayed due to concerns about reliability.

In a statement, Transport for London said they had ‘encountered some challenges with the integration testing works’ which is likely to delay their introduction to the middle of the year. They were planned to enter service from the start of 2024.

TfL says it is extending the life of some of the existing trains, limiting mileage by running two-car services wherever possible.

The 54-strong fleet being built by CAF will replace the 33 oldest trains in the fleet and boost capacity on the rest of the network.
