ELIZABETH LINE STATIONS TAKE SHAPE

DAN HARVEY GIVES AN OVERVIEW OF PROGRESS WITH THE CROSSRAIL PROJECT’S STATIONS

PADDINGTON

At Paddington bespoke brick panels have been lifted into place to line the station box and will be on view to passengers as they descend by escalator from street level into the ticket hall.

Overhead, construction of the 120-metre-long glazed canopy is well underway. Panels printed with cloud shapes are being fitted along the entire length of the canopy.

Construction of the Bakerloo Line link, which will provide step-free access between the new Paddington Elizabeth Line station and the Bakerloo Line, is said to be progressing on schedule. Escalator trusses have been installed and the fixed stairs have been constructed. Commissioning of a new lift is underway and cladding has begun in the link tunnels.underway with curved cladding panels affixed to stairwells and passageways, including connections to the expanded London Underground station.

TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD

Installation of glazed walls wrapping the Dean Street western entrance to the new Tottenham Court Road station is complete. The five-metre-high panels will allow natural light to filter into the ticket halls during the day and station lighting to illuminate the street at night.
