GREATER ANGLIA GETS SET FOR RECOVERY

How quickly will passengers return to the railway post- Covid? That is the question facing all train operators as the worst of the pandemic recedes and a degree of normality resumes.

At the end of July, Managing Director Jamie Burles reported Greater Anglia’s passenger numbers were at around 55% of pre- Covid levels. ‘We’ve been seeing some recovery, and each week patronage has grown’ he reports. ‘We’re encouraged that these figures coincide with the school summer holidays, when school and commuting journeys typically drop off, and it’s good to see numbers heading in the right direction.’
