More Network Rail teams at Modern Railways EXPO

Network Rail has confirmed that members of its SPEED and Research and Development teams will have a presence at Modern Railways EXPO, the new two-day industry show to be held at Milton Keynes on 22-23 November. These teams join the already confirmed presence from the Commercial and Procurement and Intelligent Infrastructure teams.

The SPEED initiative was launched by Network Rail in 2020 and aims to slash both the cost and time of delivering projects. The flagship scheme was the Dartmoor line project to restore regular services between Exeter and Okehampton, which was achieved in less than a year and below budget.

The Research and Development portfolio is also focused on affordability, with the most pressing outcome reducing the cost of running the railway. Network Rail has £245 million in Control Period 6 (2019-24) to explore new ideas, products and services to benefit passengers and freight users.

All the Network Rail teams will have representatives at the show throughout, offering the opportunity for visitors to meet with them and discuss collaborative opportunities. Plans are also being developed from speaker and panel sessions featuring members of all four teams, with a further announcement to follow in due course.

Attendance at the show is free, with registration open now via the show website at www.modernrailways.com/expo.

Network Rail’s attendance is just one of many attractions at Modern Railways EXPO, alongside the Future of Britain’s Railways conference and workshops organised by the Rail Forum. Visitors will also be able to explore the industry by visiting exhibitors arranged in zones, and to catch up with industry colleagues through the many valuable networking opportunities.
