Deighton footbridge prepares for TRU

New structure creates clearance for electrification and track quadrupling

A new footbridge near Deighton station, Huddersfield, has been installed to create clearances for electrification as part of the TransPennine Route upgrade (TRU).

Network Rail replaced the 172-year-old structure at Fieldhouse Lane with a thinner and taller equivalent over the weekends of 6-7 August and 13-14 August, which also allows quadrupling of the existing double-track section between Huddersfield and Westtown.
