Not surprisingly, last month’s editorial championing the case for investment in the North of England drew a mixed reaction. Some correspondents were pleased to see support for a region that has not had a fair whack at major investment for many years. Others suggested that on no account should a diminished case for investment further south be the corollary of any boost in funding for the North.
