A PREVIEW OF ENTRIES FOR THE INDUSTRY’S LONGEST- STANDING AWARDS EVENT
NEW OXFORD LINK
The first section of East West Rail, linking Bicester and Oxford, was fully completed when Chiltern Railways services from London Marylebone began running to Oxford city centre in December 2016. The £320 million project involved a major upgrade of the 16km former branch line to a 100mph double-track railway. It was delivered by a collaboration between Chiltern, Network Rail, a Carillion Buckingham joint venture, Atkins, Siemens and RSK.
ALLIANCE FOR ORDSALL
The Ordsall Chord is at the heart of the Great North Rail Project, providing a direct link between Manchester’s three main line stations. Network Rail formed a pure alliance with Amey Sersa, Skanska BAM and Siemens to deliver the new infrastructure, which includes over 4,300 tonnes of steel, 28,500 tonnes of ballast and 500km of signalling, power and telecoms cable. The centrepiece of the project, the 600-tonne arch for the network arch bridge, was successfully lifted into place in February 2017, and the chord is on course to come into service in December.
