‘Constellation Partnership’: that’s the new name for the Northern Gateway Development Zone, a shared investment campaign for South Cheshire and North Staffordshire. The new name was unveiled with pizzazz at the MIPIM International Property event in Cannes on 14 March.

ALL CHANGE AT CREWE

The partnership is a boundary-breaking collaboration between two Local Enterprise Partnerships and seven local authorities, with strong ministerial backing and a fast-track approach to plan-led economic development. The Constellation region is well-placed for both east-west and north-south connections nationally by rail and road and has international reach via easy access to key airports. This already good connectivity will be given a supercharge through the investment in a High Speed 2 rail hub at Crewe, along with connections to HS2 for the city of Stoke-on-Trent and the county town of Stafford.

On the back of the proposed new HS2 hub station, Cheshire East Council, using a team led by Arup and property experts CBRE, has prepared a masterplan which covers 920 hectares of prime development land in central Crewe.
