The start of services on the Levenmouth branch in June and later this year on the Northumberland line features in the summer timetable
ScotRail and Northern will both serve new routes this year, and the timetable changes supporting this are among the headlines with the summer schedule alterations, unusually taking place this year in June.
ScotRail’s new service on the Levenmouth branch, serving Cameron Bridge and Leven, starts with the timetable change on 2 June. The hourly service from Edinburgh will run via Kirkcaldy, calling at all stations except South Gyle. In a rearrangement of Fife services, the hourly Edinburgh to Dundee service will become limited stop, the East Fife line will gain a doubling of frequency in the evening from hourly to half-hourly, while seven additional West Fife circle evening services will mean there is a half-hourly frequency here too.
In all, ScotRail’s June 2024 timetable brings nearly 100 additional services each weekday, with a recast of Inverclyde services too. During the day the half-hourly Gourock to Glasgow services will be limited stop (they will call at all stations in the evening), while the half-hourly Wemyss Bay services will call at all stations. Bishopton will gain a four trains per hour service, serving the new town at Dargavel.
