A DIGEST OF THE MAIN CHANGES ON NETWORK RAIL, LONDON UNDERGROUND AND NORTHERN IRELAND RAILWAYS INFRASTRUCTURE DURING MAY 2017; COMPILED BY MARTYN BRAILSFORD OF THE BRANCH LINE SOCIETY (WWW.BRANCHLINE.ORG.UK).

May was, as expected, a quieter month with significant works only taking place at Blackfriars and Bolton plus at Elgin and Forres on the Aberdeen to Inverness project. More overhead wires have been energised on the Great Western project and also at Ilford depot for Crossrail. One new station opening at Cambridge North also took place.

Edinburgh Waverley: platform 12 at the west end is being removed under a programme of works being undertaken by Carillion. This was the scene on 12 July 2017.
