North to South Wales Mk 4 service expanded

Transport for Wales launched its complete Mk 4 service between North and South Wales on 13 September, with two sets operating six Holyhead to Cardiff workings each weekday.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, TfW and its predecessor Arriva Trains Wales operated a Class 67-hauled Mk 3 set from Holyhead to Cardiff in the morning and back in the evening. A travelling chef cooked complimentary breakfast or evening meals for First Class passengers.

A Mk 4 set, without a chef, began to operate the same services in June.

The set which works the 05.33 from Holyhead now returns as the 11.22 from Cardiff Central, before forming the 16.36 Holyhead to Cardiff.
