TPE marks Eurovision with special train

Merseyrail to run extra services

TransPennine Express has wrapped Class 397 EMU No 397011 in a special vinyl wrap to mark the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Liverpool between 9 and 13 May.

The train features a ‘Welcome to Liverpool’ message along with Eurovision graphics and was serenaded by soprano Morgan Carer as it departed from Manchester Airport station.

Local operator Merseyrail will be running later services during the contest, including from 7 May’s National Lottery’s Big Eurovision Welcome. Between 8 and 13 May, James Street station will be closed from 20.00, and on 13 May, it and Lime Street Low Level will be closed all day to help manage large numbers of people expected to attend.
