TPE marks Reston opening

The first train arrives at the new station at Reston.

TransPennine Express marked the opening of Reston station on 23 May by naming the first train that called there St Abb’s Head.

Nova 1 set No 802212 was the first train to call at the station, on the 6.16 departure from Edinburgh, since the original station closed in 1964. It was met by The Border Piper Sandy Much, who played Scotland the Brave on the train’s arrival.

Seven trains a day in each direction run between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed, with five Edinburgh-Newcastle trains. Special introductory fares have been introduced to mark the £20 million facility’s opening, which will run until 22 August.
