Ground broken for Leven station

Second station on Levenmouth line now under construction

Construction of the new station at Leven on the £116 million Levenmouth Rail Link reopening has now started. It is one of two stations on the line; work recently started on the other at Cameron Bridge.

It will have 205-metre-long platforms and a pebble-styled pavilion area as the entrance, along with 133 parking spaces. Construction is expected to take around 14 months, with completion ahead of the railway’s reopening in spring 2024.

Nineteen single track kilometres of track are being installed on route, which is also being electrified. The first mile of restored track has been commissioned, while fencing, embankment reprofiling, drainage, cabling and track work is taking place on the second mile section.

Utilities diversion has started on the Leven bridge, and it is anticipated that preparatory work on the (Bawbee) Leven bridge will start soon.
