EXPO: Introducing Modern Railways EXPO 2022

Modern Railways and Key Publishing are launching a brand-new exhibition – Modern Railways EXPO – focusing on the opportunities for the rail industry as it prepares to enter the new era of Great British Railways.

It takes place at the Milton Keynes Arena on 22-23 November and is supported by Network Rail and the Rail Forum, with leading exhibitors already signing up. The show will be FREE to attend, with registration in advance opening later this year.

Launched in the 60th anniversary year of Modern Railways and expanding on the success of the long-established Modern Railways RVE show, Modern Railways EXPO covers all sectors of the rail industry.

New Approach
In a new approach, companies will be located within focused technology zones reflecting their areas of operation, providing the opportunity to get the best overview of the industry:
•    Signalling and Telecommunication;
•    Rolling Stock Manufacture, Supply and Delivery;
•    Rolling Stock Maintenance, Parts and Systems;
•    Professional Advice, Consultancy and Services;
•    Infrastructure and On Track Plant Suppliers;
•    Rail Vehicle Enhancement;
•    Recruitment.

Alongside the exhibition, we will be hosting the Future of Britain’s Railways Conference. With morning and afternoon sessions on each of the two days and organised by Modern Railways’ highly respected Fourth Friday Club team, sessions will focus on developments in infrastructure, signalling, rolling stock and more. Further details about the conference programme will be announced soon.

The first day of the show will conclude with a trade and exhibitor networking reception. This will give delegates and exhibitors a valuable networking opportunity as drinks and light refreshments are served.

Modern Railways EXPO will also see a continuation of our successful partnership with the Rail Forum, which has organised the highly acclaimed RVE Meet the Buyer and RVE BigIdea events at Modern Railways RVE. Plans will be announced soon for a new approach to supplier engagement activity – look out for more details.

Modern Railways Editor Philip Sherratt says: “Britain’s railway faces change on a scale unseen since privatisation – and while there are many uncertainties as the post-pandemic recovery continues, there are also huge opportunities which suppliers tell us they want to showcase in a new format.

“As the railway increasingly moves to more high-tech methods of operation and delivery of rolling stock, maintenance and equipment, the time is right for an all-new exhibition which highlights the very best innovation from across the full spectrum of the industry.

Modern Railways has been the voice of the rail industry for 60 years, and in a climate emergency, investment in our rail network has never been more critical. The developments on show at Modern Railways EXPO will shape the future of the railway for the next generation and beyond – which is why we are so proud to be launching this exciting new exhibition.”

Modern Railways isn’t the only organisation at Modern Railways Expo celebrating an important milestone in 2022. Longstanding supporter Camira Fabrics is marking its bicentenary this year. Area Business Manager Rail UK & Western Europe Honor Clough said: “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at Modern Railways EXPO. This year marks Camira’s 200-year anniversary in transport textiles, and, to celebrate, we have a number of exciting new launches to share - what better place to showcase them than an event which covers the full spectrum of the rail industry?”

Stand bookings are now open, and the exhibition has already drawn support from industry suppliers including Aura Brand Solutions, B Hepworth, Camira Fabrics, Capitol Batteries, Luso Electronics and more.
