New concourse fully open and Cannon Street services call at station again

The new concourse at London Bridge station fully opened on 2 January 2018 following work by Network Rail over the Christmas holiday period. As well as major progress with the station itself, the 10-day period saw completion of much of the railway systems work required for the remodelling of the layout around the station as part of the Thameslink Programme. Southeastern’s Cannon Street services have resumed calling at the station using three new platforms following a period of over a year when they ran through without stopping.

The work paves the way for the first phase of the enhanced Thameslink service to be introduced in May, at which time cross-London Thameslink services will resume running through London Bridge again using two more new platforms. The remodelling has created segregated routes for Thameslink and Southeastern services through the station and its environs, including the grade-separated Bermondsey dive under, while the station itself now has more through platforms and fewer terminal platforms.
